ChinApps is a free travel guide at chinapps-app.com. There is no account, no advertising and no cross-site tracking. This page explains exactly what does happen, including the parts that are unavoidable on any website.

What stays on your device

Everything you type into ChinApps is written to your own browser's storage and is never sent anywhere. Nobody, including me, can read it:

Clearing your browser data, or removing the site from your Home Screen, deletes all of it. Bear in mind that iOS itself clears a website's storage after roughly seven days without a visit; installing ChinApps to your Home Screen largely avoids that, and both cards can be saved as an image so you keep a copy in your photos.

What the server sees

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like every website, serving a page means Cloudflare receives your IP address, the page requested, your browser's user-agent string and the time of the request. Cloudflare keeps these as standard security and delivery logs. I do not build profiles from them and they are not combined with anything else.

Analytics

ChinApps uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint or track you across sites. It counts page views, referrers and broad country-level location. I also count a small number of anonymous events — that an install prompt was shown or accepted, that a calendar file was downloaded, that a card was opened full screen — so I can tell which parts of the site are actually useful. These carry no identifier of any kind and cannot be linked back to you or to each other.

Cookies

ChinApps sets no cookies.

The contact form

If you write to me, your name, email address and message are sent by email through Resend so that they reach my inbox, and are kept there so I can reply. They are used for nothing else.

Tips

If tipping is switched on and you choose to leave one, the payment is handled entirely by Stripe on their own pages. Your card details are given to Stripe and never reach this site. Stripe processes that payment under their own privacy policy, and I see only that a payment was made.

Links out of the site

ChinApps names the apps a visitor to China will need and links to their public listings on the App Store or Google Play, or to the developer's own download page where an app is not on a store. Following such a link takes you out of ChinApps. Those companies are unconnected to me and govern your information under their own policies. ChinApps is not affiliated with any of them.

Offline copies

So the guides work with no signal, your browser stores a copy of the site's pages on your device. That is a cache on your own phone; it is not a report to anyone that you read anything.

Children

ChinApps is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date at the top.

Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact form, which reaches the author directly. If you would rather write by email, ask on the form and an address will come back to you in the reply.
