AutoNavi's maps are the reference for mainland China: live traffic, subway and bus routing, walking directions, and built-in ride-hailing. Foreign map apps are legally offset from real GPS coordinates here, which is why they feel wrong — AMap doesn't.

Before you go

  1. No account is needed for maps, transit and walking directions.
  2. Sign in with a phone number only if you want to hail taxis or save places.

Tips

  • Search in English works for large landmarks; for small addresses paste the Chinese text.
  • Transit directions include which subway carriage to board and which exit to use.
